KBank has partnered with Google Developers and LINE Thailand to organize the “TechJam by KBTG” programming contest for developers, designers and researchers. Three winning teams will be selected to attend a workshop in California’s Silicon Valley. Prizes will include air tickets and expenses for the entire trip, plus other rewards, with a total value of more than 3 million Baht.
Mr. Somkid Jiranuntarat, Vice Chairman of KASIKORN BUSINESS-TECHNOLOGY GROUP or KBTG, said that KBTG’s mission is to create financial innovations in support of KBank’s delivery of services and tools that cater to users’ requirements. KBTG’s software developers are applying their efforts to explore new services to enhance ease, convenience, speed and security for our customers.
TechJam by KBTG has been created to serve as a platform for those with knowledge and skills in programming, data science and UX/UI design to showcase their potential. Based on the “Human-Centric AI” theme – one of the current lifestyle trends – this project will be Thailand’s most challenging software development contest.
TechJam by KBTG is being held in collaboration with KBTG’s leading partners, including Google Developers and LINE Thailand, which are providing contestants new technologies like chatbots, artificial intelligence (AI), data science and mobile app design. Lecturers from leading universities and IT specialists are invited to be judges and consultants for the competition’s participants, who will compete in three tracks. They are, i.e., 1) Code Track, which is suitable for software developers who love to conquer challenges; 2) Data Track, which is aimed at those preferring to conduct a large database test and study, AI creators and data model researchers; and 3) Design Track, which is for highly proficient UX/UI designers. Contestants will face specific challenges under different conditions and rules in each track.
Applications for Tech Jam by KBTG are open from June 15 to July 30 at www.kbtg.tech/techjam. Interested university students or the general public of Thai nationality, age 18 or older, may apply for the contest individually or in groups of two persons. They may choose to compete in one of the three tracks, i.e., Code Track, Data Track or Design Track. Applicants are required to pass the online audition round, held from July 28 to August 5, 2017. Qualifying teams/contestants will then advance to the final round, slated for August 26-27 at the KBTG Building, Chaeng Watthana. The final round – which involves software design and development as well as application of technologies to future innovations – will select the top developers of the three tracks.
The three winning teams of the TechJam by KBTG competition will be awarded a study trip to participate in a workshop with Google in Silicon Valley, an IT community in the US that is a dream destination for developers, with free air tickets and expenses paid throughout the trip, as well as other prizes, altogether worth more than 3 million Baht.
Mr. Somkid added that as part of a warmup and preparation for the TechJam by KBTG competitors, the TechJam Mixer Event will be held on June 24, 2017, at KBank Siam Pic-Ganesha, 7th Floor, Siam Square One, to allow potential competitors to meet the gurus who would be their coaches, plus other experts from KBTG, Google Developers and LINE Thailand, as well as university lecturers. Aside from a networking party, a seminar will also be held to explain the rules of the competition. Interested developers are invited to register for the TechJam by KBTG competition or TechJam Mixer Event from June 15 onwards at www.kbtg.tech/techjam.
